To what extent does the past continue in the present? Like time goes by as a river. Taking the past to places downstream. Like a flashback from the past.
Born in Deventer, where history flows past in this old Hanseatic city. And now, after living for 14 years in Haarlem, living in Schalkhaar, near Deventer and the river.

Artist Statement

I'am looking for a connection between past and present and a connection between abstraction and emotion. Through abstraction I create layers and prevents the emotion from becoming a literal translation. By continually abstracting and zooming in I come to the core.
In my working process, intuition is important, playing on the square meter. Searching starts nowadays on the computer, here too there is a field of tension. Because how do you find emotion in the computer?
The search itself is more important than the final goal. I'am not looking for definitive answers.
